It is largely a retail and hospitality orientated. Suprisingly however Swanston Street does not have many hotels.
- The Westin Melbourne: Actual address is 205 Collins Street. Most of the hotel is overlooking Swanston Street.
- City Square Motel: 67 Swanston Street. Has a money exchange downstairs
- Grand Mercure Hotel: Located on in the center of Swanston Street, central to everything, great location.
- Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 265 Little Bourke Street
- Rydges on Swanston Hotel: Right next to Lincoln Park
- Arrow on Swanston: Smaller rooms but also smaller prices.

- Young and Jackson Princes Bridge Hotel: Australia’s most iconic Hotel. Blend of Boutique bar and classic pub. Ground floor has over 30 beers on tap with a focus on Australia Craft Beer. 1st floor couches, boutique beer, fine wine, cocktails, with views of Melbourne. Top floor Cider Bar.
- St Paul’s Cathedral: Since 1836, this Cathedral is built in the neo-Gothic transitional style, partly Early English and partly Decorated.
