Federation Square Melbourne
Public Events
Throughout the year many event are held at the square. For example exhibitions about beer, flims, nationalities, art etc. The annual Thai Culture and Food Festival is usually held at Federation Square in March. take a look at the evens page here.
However in 2016 it the Thai Festival took place in Steampacket Gardens Gelong on Saturday the 2nd April.
Where is Federation Square?
It is located along the Yarra River. On the corner of Flinders Street and Swanston Street. opposite Flinders Street Station and also opposite of St Paul’s Cathedral. Diagonally opposite Young and Jackson Bar. Its 3.4 hectares in size
You really can’t miss it. It is the strange and odd looking non straight building.

Located underground in the glass building on the corner of Flinders Street and Swanston St. They provide information and advice on what to see and do in Melbourne and across Victoria.

Cafes, European cuisine, local and imported beer, Chinese, Pizza, Chocolate, Australian cuisine, Italian, Soup, Food Trucks, Ice Cream, Burgers, Bars, Restaurants, Outdoor Cafes and Bars, Rooftop Bar.

There are bike vending machines located all around Melbourne and the prices are quite reasonable compared to most things in Melbourne
Federation Square History
Originally it was costed at $110 Million but as always with Melbourne’s corruption it ended up costing Melbournians $467 Million fours time more.
Fed Square opened on the 26th of October 2002.
In 2009 Federation Square received a Virtual Tourist awarded with the title of the ‘World’s Fifth Ugliest Building.
