Do you need a visa to go to Thailand? is a very common question Australian have when considering going to Thailand For a holiday.
Do you need a visa to travel to Thailand
The answer is it depends. Australians are entitled to a 30 day visa on arrival in Thailand.
If you plan on staying for less then 30 days there is nothing you need to do, you can just jump on the plane, show up in Thailand at the airport and have your passport stamped with a 30 day on arrival visa in Thailand.
Thailand 60 Day Tourist Visa
If you have plans for staying longer then 30 days you will need to apply for a Thai 60 day tourist visa
This will as the name implies allow you to stay for 60 days. Do be careful as if you leave Thailand while on this Thai 60 day tourist visa if will become invalid.
For example you enter Thailand on the Thailand 60 day Visa and decide to visit Loas for a few days. When you re enter Thailand your 60 day Visa has already been used and is no longer valid.
Your passport will be stamped with the usual Thailand 30 day visa and your 60 day visa has gone to waste.
Are There Other Visa Options?
Yes there is. There are education, business, and even an elite card option available but I will have to cover other Thailand visa options at another time.
